A build-in-public docuseries

THE
ESCAPE

I’m 35, I run a sandwich shop, and I’m filming my way out.

Real attempts. Real numbers. No guru talk. Every dollar, every setback, on camera.

↓

The mission

$50,000 a year. My own boss.
No going back.

I’m Keenan. I’m 35, an assistant manager at a sandwich shop in Missoula, Montana. For years I told myself I’d figure out the exit later. Later never came. So I put a camera on it.

The goal

Earn $50,000 a year working for myself, with real freedom over my time. Not someday. Measured on camera, dollar by dollar.

The rules

Real numbers on screen. Every attempt filmed, including the failures. No rented cars, no advice I haven’t lived, no skipping the ugly parts.

The stakes

If this doesn’t work, I’m still making sandwiches at 40. That’s not a tragedy. It’s just not the life I want. This is the record of me trying.

The journey

Ten videos. One season.
The whole attempt.

Filmed in order, posted as they’re done. The scorecard episodes repeat every couple of months for as long as this runs.

EP 1Filming now

I’m 35. I’m Filming My Way Out of This Job.

EP 2Coming soon

What a Sandwich Shop Manager Actually Makes

EP 3Coming soon

I Put My Bank Account on YouTube

Nobody shows the bank account. I will. The trust episode.

EP 4Coming soon

I Have a Job Interview in 7 Days

Interviewing for a way out, camera in hand. The night-before nerves, filmed honestly.

EP 5Coming soon

The Interview: What Actually Happened

The outcome, whatever it is. The rejections stay in. That’s the whole point.

EP 6Coming soon

I Started a Company With $0 Revenue

Scáth & Co: a name, a domain, and nothing else. The unglamorous paperwork, filmed anyway.

EP 7Coming soon

I Get 3 Days Off. Here’s Where They Go.

Three days a week to build an exit. Time-lapsed honestly, including the hours that go nowhere.

EP 8Coming soon

I Gave Myself 30 Days to Make $500

The camera was supposed to be the way out. Thirty days to prove it. The final number goes on screen.

EP 9Coming soon

2 Months In: The Honest Numbers

What worked, what didn’t, what it cost. The scorecard format that repeats for the whole run.

EP 10Coming soon

10 Videos In: Am I Closer to $50K?

The compression episode. Months of grind in one sitting, and the honest answer, on record.

The numbers

The money, on the table.

These are real figures from my actual accounts. They update with every monthly scorecard, good or bad. Last updated September 28, 2026.

Credit card balance

$5,012.70

On a $5,000 limit. 14.9% APR. First $312.42 minimum due October 19. Plus a $658.40 Capital One settlement in three payments from October 14.

Checking account

$7.51

The whole war chest. This is the starting line, not the excuse.

Rent arrears

~$3,700

Behind on rent. Catch-up plan starts in November at $385 a month, cleared around August 2027.

New borrowing, from October on

$0

No advances, no buy-now-pay-later. The treadmill stops here.

Month one of the plan is underway: the card minimums start in October, the arrears plan starts in November. Watch the scoreboard move.

About

Keenan McInnis

35. Missoula, Montana. Assistant manager at a sandwich shop, four days a week.

Before that: tech consulting, Salesforce certifications, a layoff, and a long road back to the counter. I’ve watched every escape documentary on YouTube. The one missing was mine.

So I started filming. This site, the channel, the numbers, it’s all the same project. Me, getting out, on the record.
